American Stock Exchange Definition

There are several stock exchanges in the US. The American stock exchange or we can just call it as AMEX is the second largest stock exchange in the United States of America. The Amex is the number two after the NYSE or the New York Stock Exchange. Being the number two of the biggest and largest stock exchange, not so many people know about the American stock exchange definition. This writing is dedicated to those people who want to know about the definition of the American Stock Exchange or the AMEX.

There are not so many people know about the AMEX or even the American stock exchange definition because the name has been changed into the NYSE Amex Equities. This stock exchange is based on New York City. This stock exchange was just a mutual organization which was own by the member of the organization itself.

According to some of the American stock exchange definition, the AMEX was then merged with the number one biggest stock exchange, the New York Stock exchange back in the first of October last two years. After the merger with the NYSE, the name of the Amex was then changed into the NYSE Alternext US. But this name did not last long. The company changed the name into what we know now, the NYSE Amex Equities.

The last but not least thing we need to know after finding out the American stock exchange definition is that the hours of the operation of the Amex. The session of the stock exchange for a normal trading session will usually start at 9.30 am to 40.pm on the office day. When Saturday and Sunday come, the trading session will be declared in advance.
